The autopsy of the Jack the Ripper victims were carried out in grim, dark buildings (and sometimes sheds). They were not usually done in hospitals or coroner buildings. The attendees would have been a doctor, a couple of workhouse inmates and possibly a nurse or female inmate who would have washed the body.
